Standard Chartered Marathon 2011

A NEW non-competitive category for the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) has been created for this year's race, the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) announced on Tuesday.
The 5km Fun Run will be part of the SCMS 2011 series of competitive and non-competitive races. The introduction is looking at enhancing the marathon's reputation as an all-inclusive event that caters to runners of all ages and levels.
The SCMS attracted 70,000 runners this year, up from 60,000 in 2010.
Mr David Voth, vice-chairman of the SCMS 2011 Organising Committee and senior director, Sports Marketing Group, the SSC, said that the event has a 'vitally important role in helping to cultivate a vibrant sporting culture in Singapore'.
Registration for the SCMS 2011 will begin at 11am on June 23, 2011. Further details can be found at www.marathonsingapore.com
