Lenny Dykstra

Yes, the guy who fell for the old 'DO SHOT? ROOFIE, YES? VAT A COUNTRY!' scam from two Latvian con-bims in Miami Beach last year (not for nothing John, but if you were looking for that kind of action, you could've just headed to a gentleman's establishment in the Norfeast), and sends you frantically scurrying for milk, bread, and eggs a couple-few times each winterstands up for his pal Lenny Dykstra in today's Daily News.
Seems John and the Dude struck up a friendship "during the magical 1993 season." Funny how they didn't connect during the less-than-magical 1991 or 1992 seasons, huh?
Anyway, now that Lenny's in a whole heap of trouble with the law on grand theft auto, drug, and other charges, Bolaris talked to the DN's Dan Gross about his embattled pal, saying, among other things, that"Lenny has demons. He needs to address those and take care of those."
A few other highlights:
"As he would say to me, I wish I had that chip you have, the discipline chip. His brain doesn't let him analyze things, he goes full on through the wall. That's his chip. That's the way he rolls. The same chip that made him successful in baseball doesn't always apply in the business world.
"He'll fight to the very end. That's the way he is. He will never go down without fighting. But this might be a battle that is too big for Lenny."
"I love the guy. I hope he pulls out of it."
Alright, Charlie Sheen: your turn to defend The Dude.
