CEBU Pacific

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific called off 20 trips going to Bicol and Visayas on Wednesday due to bad weather in Manila.
Of this number, 14 flights are bound for Caticlan in Aklan, while two roundtrip flights going to Naga and Virac were also affected. The airline likewise cancelled a Caticlan trip from Cebu.

“Affected passengers will be accommodated on the next available flights. We always place top priority in your safety. Thank you for your understanding,” Cebu Pacific said.

Other airlines have yet to announce any flight cancellations as state weather forecasters cited the low pressure area (LPA) near Mindoro as the reason behind the rains.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spotted the LPA at 30 kilometers north of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro as of 8 a.m. Wednesday.

This disturbance is embedded along Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), which will bring scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas.

Widespread rains, meanwhile, are anticipated to occur in Southern Luzon and Western Visayas, which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
